2001 Volkswagen Golf

The 2001 Volkswagen Golf is basically a carry-over of the last year's model,
with fewer revisions made this time than there was the previous year. The 1.8
liter turbocharged engine option is still the most talked about feature of the
year's Volkswagen Golf line up.
As with the previous model year, the 2001 Volkswagen Golf is available in two
body styles: the 3-door (for GTI models) and 5-door (for the GL and GLS models).
Volkswagen Golf buyers are given four engine options: 2.0 liter 115 hp I4 engine,
2.8 liter 174 hp VR6 engine, 1.9 liter 90 hp turbo-diesel engine, and the much
talked about 1.8 liter 150 hp turbocharged I4 engine. All models are still equipped
with the 5-speed manual transmission while the 4-speed automatic is provided as
an option for an additional cost.
Like the engine and the transmission, not much change can be seen in the 2001
Golf exterior and interior features. A firmer sports suspension is, however, now
available as an option for the GLS 1.8T trim. Minor renovations include a new
updated cloth fabric for the GL's interior and velour fabric for the GLS' interior.
