2002 Volkswagen Golf

For three years now since its 1999 major redesign, no major change has been seen
for the Volkswagen Golf. The 2002 Volkswagen is again a carry-over of the previous
year's model. Volkswagen must have been already contented with the sales of its
Golf line up so that no further changes were being made.
As with the previous year, the 2002 Volkswagen Golf is available in the GL and
GLS trim with TDI versions for each trim. Both 3-door and 5-door body styles are
now available for the GL trim while the GLS trim only has the 5-door body style.
Two basic engine types are available: the 2.0 liter 115 hp I4 engine that provides
an adequate amount of power and the 1.9 liter 90 hp turbocharged diesel I4 engine
that provides exceptional fuel efficiency. All trims are equipped with a 5-speed
manual transmission with a 4-speed automatic transmission available at an added
cost.
No interior refinements were made for the 2002 Volkswagen Golf. Standard features
like air conditioning system, power windows and door locks, and cassette player
were retained while no new feature was introduced. Instead, new warranties were
provided: a basic 4 year/50,000 miles warranty and 24-hour roadside service.
