2003 Volkswagen Golf

Although a major revision is still far from what it gets, the Volkswagen Golf
gets some for 2003, with new interesting features and old optional features becoming
a standard. The Volkswagen Golf continues to be the best-selling hatchback in
the US for 2003, as it also continues to be the car with exceptional handling,
steady performance and unsurpassed reliability in the subcompact class.
The 2003 Volkswagen continues to be available in the 3-door and 5-door hatchback
bodies with four trims, namely: GL, GL TDI, GLS, and GLS TDI. Two of the original
engines were left when the GTI trim became a Volkswagen itself. The available
engine options are: 2.0 liter 115 hp I4 engine and the fuel efficient 1.9 liter
90 hp turbo-diesel I4 engine. The preferred 5-speed manual transmission is still
the standard equipment while those who want the ease of the 4-speed automatic
transmission can get it at an added cost.
The Volkswagen Golf gets loads of new interior features for the 2003 model year.
Among the new standard features are air conditioning, a tilt/telescoping steering
wheel, cruise control, height-adjustable front bucket seats, a center console,
cupholders, heated power mirrors, power windows and door locks, remote keyless
entry, an AM/FM/cassette/CD player, a digital clock, map lights, illuminated visor
mirrors, a rear defogger and more. It is also fully equipped with safety features
like dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain side airbags and antilock
4-wheel disc brakes for optimum driver and passenger safety.
