2004 Volkswagen Golf
As the Volkswagen Golf continues to be the safe and reliable hatchback, it gets
a few but important revisions and feature addition for the 2004 model year. It
gets a boost in engine performance while providing better economy. New interior
amenities would also enhance not only its convenience but also its reliability
on the road.
In style, the 2004 Volkswagen Golf remains basically unchanged. It is a hatchback
available in 3-door and 4-door body styles. It is available in two basic trim,
the GL and the GLS, each with a TDI variant. Exterior body styling remains the
same as well as its basic drivetrain parts. It is equipped with the rack and pinion
steering and has independent front and rear suspensions.
A major improvement for the 2004 Volkswagen Golf is made with its engine. Two
engine options are still available: the 2.0 liter I4 and the 1.9 liter turbo-diesel
I4. The turbocharged diesel engine gets an enhancement, now producing 100 hp of
horsepower. That's more power for your hatchback while maintaining good fuel efficiency
at 43/46 mpg (city/highway) gas mileage rating.
Aside from the boost in engine power, the 2004 Volkswagen Golf gets a few more
add-ons both in its interior and exterior. Aside from the usual interior features
like air conditioning, AM/FM/CD/cassette player and cruise control, it now also
has the OnStar satellite radio assistance system that keeps your car more reliable
all the time. An optional anti-skid system may also be added in its list of safety
equipments that includes, among others, dual front and side-impact airbags. Other
optional features are also available to further enhance the performance of your
Volkswagen Golf hatchback.
