2006 Volkswagen Golf
Even if the 2005 model of both Volkswagen Golf and GTI are yet to be officially
released, there is already much talk on how the 2006 model of the Volkswagen Golf
would look like. This maybe because Volkswagen has already unwrapped a production-ready
model of the 2006 Volkswagen Golf GTI at the Paris International Motor Show.

Amidst the expectation and speculations, Volkswagen has not really released an
official copy of the specs for the 2006 Volkswagen Golf. Just like the 2005 model,
we can expect a longer, wider, and taller Golf for 2006. It will still be offered
in 3-door and 50door hatchback models. The engines are expected to be retained,
with new engines expected to be introduced. Engine options are expected to include
2.0L/140 hp TDI diesel, 2.0L/150 hp FSI direct-injection gasoline engine, 1.8L/200
hp turbo, and ultimately a 3.2L/220 hp V6.
Standard transmission is expected to be the 6-speed manual while the 6-speed
automatic will remain optional. The electromechanical steering will still be featured
as well as the optional 6-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG). Still included for
2006 are the standard suspension components like the front struts and rear multilink
suspensions.
Still expected in 2006 are its generous number of interior comforts and standard
safety equipments. Many also expects that Volkswagen would expand its body style
options so that it will no longer be limited to a hatchback but would also include
other styles like convertibles, sport-utility vehicle, and crossover wagons.
