Volkswagen Golf Engine
What's the purpose of a car if it is not equipped with an engine? Making an analogy
between a car and the human body, the engine is probably the heart of car. Without
it, the car would have no purpose as it will not move in anyway.
The Volkswagen Golf is equipped with engines that produce an ample amount of
power to make the hatchback work properly. There are a variety of engines available
for the Volkswagen Golf, all depending on the trim level of the Golf you have.
The standard engine for regular models, that is the GL and GLS, is a 2.0 liter
4-cylinder inline type of engine. This engine type produces 115 hp of power and
122 lb-ft of torque.
There are other engines available for the other trims and variants of the Volkswagen
Golf. The fuel efficient TDI variant is equipped with the 1.9 liter 4-cylinder
inline type turbocharged diesel engine that produces 100 hp of power and 177 lb-ft
of torque. Aside from these, the TDI engine provides a gas mileage rating of 38
mpg in city and 46 mpg in highway; very efficient considering the power and torque
it produces.
Another special trim for the Volkswagen Golf is the sporty R32 trim. The R32
is equipped with a 3.2 liter V6 engine that produces 250 bhp of power and 236
lb-ft of torque, the most powerful among all the engines available for the standard
Golf. This engine can match the power offered by larger V8s and the performance
offered by higher class Volkswagen GTI.
